Who is this course for?
This training course has been specifically designed for confined space rescue operators by the CSRTA in order to provide a dedicated curriculum that is fit for purpose. Although other courses have been historically used in this application, none of those predecessors were ever designed specifically for confined space applications.
This course meets the competencies set out in the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care (PHEM) skills framework at descriptor level D
What is covered on the course?
Although this is not an exhaustive list some of the key skills and knowledge you will gain include:
- Critical incident decision making
- Treatment of confined space toxicity exposure
- Obtaining and recording basic observations
- Liaison and handover with oncoming emergency services
- Enhanced trauma management
- Intermediate Life Support and airway management
- Dealing with entrapment and protracted incidents
How long is the course?
The course is delivered over 5 days with a focus on practical skill application.
